September 14, 2021 <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Barnes, and seconded by Mr. Woodard, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING SUPPLEMENTAL EMERGENCY COVID-19 GRANT <br />FUNDING THROUGH THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND <br />DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $105,850 AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2022 BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE <br />SERVICE FUND TO HELP MITIGATE THE SPREAD OF COVID-19.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />21 - 274 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting funding from the Virginia Department <br />of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services in the amount of $35,000 and <br />appropriating said amount in the FY 2022 Behavioral Healthcare Service Fund for <br />problem gambling prevention services. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Problem Gambling Prevention Program intends to prevent and minimize harm <br />from the expansion of legalized gambling by implementing the Strategic Prevention <br />Framework (SPF) planning model. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> On August 6, 2021 the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and <br />Developmental Services awarded $35,000 of one-time funding for gambling prevention <br />services. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> No local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budget adjustment. <br /> <br />1.
