May 11, 2021 <br /> <br />21-141 (A): <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND RE-ENACT ORDINANCE NO. 2020-32 TO IMPOSE <br />AND LEVY TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2021 AND ENDING <br />JUNE 30, 2022, ON REAL ESTATE, TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY, <br />PRIVATELY-OWNED PLEASURE BOATS, PRIVATELY-OWNED CAMPING <br />TRAILERS AND MOTOR HOMES, AND MACHINERY AND TOOLS WITHIN THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE FOR <br />THE SUPPORT OF GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS AND THE PUBLIC FREE <br />SCHOOLS AND TO PAY PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST ON THE PUBLIC DEBT.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Councilman Moody asked that the implementation of Item 21-141b and 21-141c be <br /> <br />deferred to January 1, 2022. <br /> <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed City Council that she would come back with a report on <br />the impact delaying implementation of Item 21-141b and 21-141c, to January 1, 2022, <br />would have on the budget. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Barnes, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />21-141 (B): <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO AMEND APPENDIX A OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006) TO INCREASE MONTHLY STORMWATER UTILITY <br />FEES AS OF JULY 1, 2021 AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 31.2-26 OF SAID CODE.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Motion by Dr. Whitaker, and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />21-141 (C): <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO AMEND APPENDIX A OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006) TO INCREASE RATES FOR WATER AND SEWAGE <br />SERVICES AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTIONS 38-83 AND 38-117 OF SAID CODE.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />1.
