Also, <br />the Program Director will provide grant management and oversight. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Clark, and seconded by Ms. Lucas-Burke, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $569,286 FROM THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2021 GRANTS FUND TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR LOCAL <br />PROBATION AND PRETRIAL SERVICES IN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Battle, Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />20 - 173 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting Four-for-Life funding in the amount <br />of $77,202.32 from the Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services <br />and appropriating said amount into the FY 2021 Grant Fund for use by the <br />Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services receives funding <br />allocated from the Four-For-Life Program annually. This funding is legislated by the Code <br />of Virginia §46.2-694 which stipulates that an additional $4 per year is charged and <br />collected at the time of vehicle registration and set aside as a special fund to be used only <br />for Emergency Medical Services. This funding is distributed through the Four-for-Life <br />Fund. <br /> <br /> The Department of Health returns twenty-six percent of the registration fees <br />collected to the localities wherein such vehicles are registered. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services (PFRES) received <br />notice of this Four-for-Life award on March 1, 2020, in the amount of $77,202.32. <br /> <br /> Funds will be used to purchase EMS equipment and supplies needed to sustain <br />and improve direct provision of patient care or to enhance the training and education of <br />PFRES EMS personnel. <br /> <br />Financial impact: <br /> <br /> This program does not require a local cash match or in-kind services. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budgetary adjustments. <br /> <br /> The necessary purchases of EMS equipment, supplies, and training for PFRES <br />EMS personnel will be completed. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Clark, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FOUR-FOR-LIFE FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$77,202.32 FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, OFFICE OF EMERGENCY <br />SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT INTO THE FY 2021 GRANTS <br />FUND FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE, AND EMERGENCY <br />SERVICES.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Battle, Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
