July 24, 2018 <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $557,246 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING <br />SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2019 GRANTS FUND TO PROVIDE FUNDING TO OPERATE <br />LOCAL PROBATION AND PRETRIAL SERVICES IN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br />Councilman Smith was absent during the vote. <br /> <br />18 - 284 - Adoption of an ordinance to amend Section 10-105 of Chapter 10 of the <br />Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (2006), as amended, to change the voting <br />location for Precinct Number 22 from Forward Church to St. Mark Deliverance <br />Center, located at 3801 Turnpike Road, and to formally change the name of Precinct <br />Number 22 to “St. Mark Deliverance Center”. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Portsmouth Electoral Board recommends moving the polling place for Precinct <br />No. 22 from Forward Church, located at 3915 Turnpike Road, to St. Mark Deliverance <br />Center, located at 3801 Turnpike Road. The precinct name and the location must be <br /> <br />changed. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> St. Mark Deliverance Center is located at 3801 Turnpike Road. The proposed <br /> <br />polling place is within the precinct boundary lines. <br /> <br /> The church has 149 parking spaces, is handicapped accessible, has 18 <br />handicapped parking spaces, and is accessible by public transportation. <br /> <br /> 07/06/2018. <br /> Precinct No. 22 has1939 registered voters as of <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> The financial impact will be minimal.
