May 22, 2018 <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />18 - 198 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />18 - 199 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, to take from the table an <br />ordinance regarding the transfer of school funding that was tabled at the previous City <br />Council meeting, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Clark, to adopt the following <br />ordinance: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $857,500 BETWEEN <br />CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE OVERALL AND FOURTH QUARTER FY 2018 <br />PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS GENERAL FUND OPERATING BUDGETS.” <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Clark, to amend the original ordinance <br />adding the following language, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“That the funds so transferred shall be used only for goods purchased and <br />delivered on or before June 30, 2018 or for services performed on or before June 30, <br />2018.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Rowe <br />Nays: Lucas-Burke, Whitaker <br /> <br /> Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Clark, to adopt the following <br />ordinance with the above amendment, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $857,500 BETWEEN <br />CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE OVERALL AND FOURTH QUARTER FY 2018 <br />PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS GENERAL FUND OPERATING BUDGETS.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Rowe <br />Nays: Whitaker <br /> <br /> Ms. Psimas informed citizens and City Council of the following upcoming events: <br /> <br />th <br /> <br />-28 Annual Umoja Festival, Friday, May 25-Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Festival <br />Park. <br /> <br />-Elizabeth River Run Saturday, May 26, 2018.
