April 24, 2018 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> A copy of the ordinance will be delivered to the title company that discovered the <br />error. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1978-133 TITLED “AN ORDINANCE <br />CLOSING THE FOLLOWING STREET: A PORTION OF NEWPORT AVENUE” FOR <br />THE PURPOSE OF CORRECTING A PATENT ERROR IN THE LEGAL DESCRIPTION <br />INCLUDED IN SAID ORDINANCE.” <br /> <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />18 - 162 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Councilman Moody offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />Hampton Roads Transit Paratransit <br />Deloris Haywood to be appointed. <br /> <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />Carl Jackson III, to be appointed as an Ex-Officio member, replacing Susan Wilson. <br />Willie Bamberg to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2019, replacing Willie White, <br />Jr. <br /> <br />South Hampton Roads Disabilities Services Board <br />Lisa Kidd to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2020, replacing Angela <br />Hayes. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to close nominations and the <br />above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />18 - 163 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Ms. Psimas informed citizens and City Council of the Fraternal Order of Police Gosport <br /> <br />Lodge FOP Party at Scottish Rite Center, 3401 Cedar Lane, Saturday, April 28, 2018, <br />6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker voiced his concern with the lack of transparency in the officer involved <br /> <br />shooting and suggested that City Council have a discussion on the video and the need <br />to provide information to the public. <br /> <br /> There was a majority consensus of City Council to have Solomon Ashby, City <br /> <br />Attorney, provide a memorandum on what City Council can discuss with regards to <br />the officer involved shooting and to provide that information this week for possible <br />discussion by City Council at a Special Called Public Work Session of April 30, 2018. <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody informed citizens of his request to have staff report back on the process <br /> <br />for a citizen/community to request additional lighting in the neighborhood and the <br />criteria used to determine if additional lighting is warranted. <br /> <br /> <br />18 - 164 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />There were no pending items. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
