April 24, 2018 Next Steps Following Council Action:  A copy of the ordinance will be delivered to the title company that discovered the error. Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: “ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1978-133 TITLED “AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE FOLLOWING STREET: A PORTION OF NEWPORT AVENUE” FOR THE PURPOSE OF CORRECTING A PATENT ERROR IN THE LEGAL DESCRIPTION INCLUDED IN SAID ORDINANCE.” Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe Nays: None - New Business - 18 - 162 - Boards and Commissions Councilman Moody offered the following nominations: Hampton Roads Transit Paratransit Deloris Haywood to be appointed. Parks & Recreation Commission Carl Jackson III, to be appointed as an Ex-Officio member, replacing Susan Wilson. Willie Bamberg to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2019, replacing Willie White, Jr. South Hampton Roads Disabilities Services Board Lisa Kidd to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2020, replacing Angela Hayes. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to close nominations and the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe Nays: None 18 - 163 - Items Submitted by Council Members Ms. Psimas informed citizens and City Council of the Fraternal Order of Police Gosport  Lodge FOP Party at Scottish Rite Center, 3401 Cedar Lane, Saturday, April 28, 2018, 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Dr. Whitaker voiced his concern with the lack of transparency in the officer involved  shooting and suggested that City Council have a discussion on the video and the need to provide information to the public. There was a majority consensus of City Council to have Solomon Ashby, City  Attorney, provide a memorandum on what City Council can discuss with regards to the officer involved shooting and to provide that information this week for possible discussion by City Council at a Special Called Public Work Session of April 30, 2018. Mr. Moody informed citizens of his request to have staff report back on the process  for a citizen/community to request additional lighting in the neighborhood and the criteria used to determine if additional lighting is warranted. 18 - 164 - Report on Pending Items There were no pending items.
