October 28, 1986 <br /> <br />feet in a commercial zone to fifty (50) feet in a residential zone, <br />as stipulated by the City Code. <br /> <br /> The change in the setback line from sixty (60) feet to forty <br />(40) feet will be a positive move for the businesses located in the <br />commercial zone along Airline Boulevard because this will enable <br />them to expand their facilities. Additionally, variances have been <br /> ranted to businesses to erect signs and lighting further justifyin <br /> reduction in setback line. <br /> <br /> The City Attorney has drafted the attached ordinance to amend <br />the City Code and I recommend your approval." <br /> <br /> Frank Williamson, 2100 Wyoming Avenue, asked if the ordinance <br />change would benefit anyone other than the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> The City Manager responded the ordinance 'change was for busine~ <br /> in the commerical zone along Airline Blvd~ to allow for expan¢ <br />their facilties. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by ~r. Simpson, to table the <br />ordinance, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 86-389 <br />an ordinance <br />side of West <br /> <br /> Letter from the City <br />to close a portion of <br />Norfolk Road. <br /> <br />Manager recommending adoption of <br />an unnamed street on the north <br /> <br /> "Restaurants Internationale' and Mrs. and Mrs. James C. Waters <br />have made application to close an unnamed street on the north side <br />of West Norfolk Road extending from West Norfolk Road to the proper <br />of Norfolk, Franklin and Danville Railroad. This is an unimproved <br />street between the properties of the two applicants. <br /> <br /> The viewers report and the Planning Commission recommendation <br />beth favor approval of the application. <br /> <br /> The Public Utilities Department has requested the retention of <br />an easement for the installation and maintenance of utility service~ <br />which are being installed in connection with the River"Pointe proje¢ <br />on the Beazley Farm property. This easement will be located on the <br />westernm~s~ 20' of the subject street. <br /> <br /> I recommend approval of the ordinance to complete the closure <br />of this street." <br /> <br /> Claude ~M,~Scialdone, 320 London Boulevard, representing Restau- <br />rants Inc. and James C.
