October 28, 1D86 <br /> <br />Other Item Under Unfinished Business <br /> <br />86-357 - The following resolution deferred from the regular <br />Lg of October 14, 1986, was taken up and read: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF P. H. BOYETTE, JR. <br />AND CO. [NC. TO PURCHASE CITY OWNED PRCPERTY: AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY SAID PROPERTY (SECOND AVENUE <br />WEST OF TYRE NECK ROAD).' <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, the following <br />resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />(See Caption above) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter described real pro- <br />erty, which property is no long required for public purposes and <br /> hereby declared to excess property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said property has been advertised <br />required by Section 2.09 of the Charter of the City <br />and <br /> <br />for sale as <br />of Portsmouth; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, P. H. Boyette, Jr. and Co. Inc. has offered to pur- <br />chase said property for the amount of $4,300.00, and to use said <br />property for expansion of existing office building facilities at <br />3300 Tyre Neck Road; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest <br />of the City to have said property developed in this manner. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the offer of P. H. Boyette, Jr. and Co. <br />Inc. to purchase the hereinafter described real property for the <br />amount of $3,300,00 be, and the same hereby is, excepted. Said pro <br />perry being more particularly described as follows: <br /> <br /> Ail that certain piece or parcel of lanJ, situated, <br />lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />beginning au a point where the western lot lin~ of lot 24, <br />as shown on block 21, plat of Churchland Land Company, <br />recorded in map book 18, page 85, in the Clerk's Office <br />of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, projected <br />south would intersect the center line of Second Street, <br />said point being the true ooint of beginning; thence south <br />to a point on the northern boundary of the City of Norfolk <br />waterline easement as described by deed recorded in deed <br />book 508, page 201 in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit <br />Court of the City of Chesapeake; thence northeast along <br />the northern bnundary of the waterline easement of the <br />City of Norfolk to a point which intersects the center <br />line of Second Street; thence west along the center line <br />of Second Street to the true point of beginning. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and hereby is <br />authorized to sign such deeds and other documents as may be necessa~ <br />to complete this transaction." <br /> <br />Ayes: CorFrew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Webb, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br /> 86-384 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $3,301,326 million for renovation of <br />City Park.
