89 October 28, 1986 "The Treasurer of the City of Portsmouth is requesting refunds to five (5) taxpayers (list attached) that according to theireFords of the City Treasurer have made duplicate real estate tax p~yments. Copies of paid receipts for each payment made by the taxpayers have been forwarded by the City Treasurer and are available!in the City Clerk's Office. Ail delinquent taxes for these taxpayers have been paid to date. We, therefore, are requesting refunds i~ the amount indicated on the attachment provided, for each taxpayer, without interest. The total amount of the refunds is $1,300.3-. I recommend that Council adopt this motion to authoriz~ the refunds to be paid by the City Treasurer and Director of Finance." The Treasn has determined in accordance with 58.1-3916.1 that it was net fault of this taxpayer when personal property taxes were not p until August 24, 1986. The Treasurer further reports that penalty and interest pay- lents were made totaling $70.85 and $5.41 respectively. We therefore are requesting a refund in the amount of $76.26 without interest. I r.ecommend that Council adopt this motion and a refund be ranted." 86-396 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption motion to refund $4,322.87 (without interest) to Linda's Subs Pizza, t/a % Bear's Restaurant Food Tax. "~he Commissioner of Revenue is requesting a refund of 4,322.87 to Linda's Sub, Pub g Pizza, Inc., t/a T Bear's, Portsmouth Boulevard, Portsmouth, Virginia 23701. ~105 The business included alcohol beverage sales with thei~ gFoss food sales for ten months. I recommend that Council adopt this motion, and a refund be granted." Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to autho?ize refund. The City Manager requested that the matter be tabled. Substitute motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Gray, the hatter ~as tabled, and was adopted by unanimous vote.
