<br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council held on tuesday,
<br />November 25, 1986, there were present:
<br />
<br />James W. Holley, III, Jack P. Barnes, E. G. Corprew, Jr.,
<br />J. Robert Gray, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson,
<br />Gloria O. Webb, George L. Hanbury, City Manager, Steven
<br />Lieberman, City Attorney.
<br />
<br /> Councilman Gray opened the meeting with prayer, followed by
<br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, minutes of the
<br />called meeting of November 10, 1986; minutes of the regular meeting
<br />of November 10, 1986; and minutes of the special meeting of ~
<br />12, 1986, to be approved as received, and was adopted by unanimous
<br />vote.
<br />
<br /> Councilman Simpson made a presentation of the Veterans Day
<br /> signed by Mayors of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake
<br /> Virginia Beach, Come, ending The 'Fleet Reserve Association, to
<br />or Holley.
<br />
<br />Mayor Holley welcomed all visitors in attendance.
<br />
<br /> 86-422 Joint Public Hearing with the City Couhcil and the
<br /> mouth Cable Television Commission on reorganization of Cox
<br />Cable Portsmouth, Inc. was held, with the following members of
<br /> uth Cable Television Commission present:
<br />
<br />Mary Jo Brady, Vernon C. Crump, Jr., Leah Stith, John M. Ta
<br />
<br />Mayor Holley made the following statement:
<br />
<br /> "A joint public hearing with members of the Cable Television
<br /> ommlssion to consider a request by Cox Cable Tidewater, Inc. to
<br /> their name to Cox Cable of Hampton Roads, Inc. We will offer
<br />representatives of Cox an opportunity to discuss their proposal,
<br /> ollowing which we ask if there be any further public comment. We
<br /> extremely pleased to have some of the members of Cable Televisic
<br />%ommission here this evening. Chairman William Barnes has asked to
<br />express his disappointment, due to illness precludes his presence
<br /> I will ask Mary Jo Brady, Senior Member of the Commission,
<br />for here comments."

<br />Mary Jo Brady made the following statement:
<br />
<br />"On behalf of the Cable Television Commission we are pleased t
<br />oe here tonight to hold this joint public hearing with you. Tonight
<br /> do not plan any action, and within the next two weeks, we do
<br />to meet and consider Cox Cable's request, and to make a recommenda-
<br />tion to the Council prior to your December meeting."
<br />
<br /> Frank Bowers, Vice PresidentfGeneral Manager, 5200 Cleveland
<br />Street, Virginia Beach, representing Cox Cable, spoke on the chan
<br />of the name and stated reasons for the change. (See Exhibit 86-422
<br />
<br />No action taken.

<br />86-423 - Joint Public Hearing with the City Council and the
<br />~oard of Commissicners of the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing
<br /> y on the 1987 Community Development Program was held, with
<br />the following Commissioners of PRHA present:
<br />
<br /> William H. Oast, III, Chairman, Rita Scott Forrest, McFall C.
<br />~urdine, Danny Cruce, Executive Director, Ralph Buxton, PRHA
<br /> y.
