August 23, 2016 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> Finance will complete the necessary budgetary adjustments. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING STATE CATEGORICAL AID IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$44,100 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2017 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND FOR <br />USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE <br />FOSTERING FUTURES PROGRAM.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />16 - 269 - Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $202,000 in the FY 2017 Capital <br />Projects Fund from the Unassigned Fund Balance for use by the Department of <br />Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services to perform repairs to the Pokey Smokey <br />Track and the City Park boat ramp. <br />Vision Principle: Efficient Service Delivery. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> Repairs are needed to the tracks of the Pokey Smokey train and to the City Park <br />boat ramp. <br /> <br /> On March 8, 2016 City Council was briefed that the Finance Department <br />reconciled old deposit accounts in the Capital Projects Fund and found that they were <br />no longer valid. These deposits were removed from the balance sheet which increased <br />the Fund Balance. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> <br /> The budget appropriation recommended willcover the cost of both projects. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> As fund balance was increased last year due to prior year corrections, this <br /> <br />reduction of fund balance has minimal impact. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance.
