Vision Principles: Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Curator of Art, along with a working committee, will solicit participants for the <br /> <br />workshop from the area’s military community. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Dr. Edmonds, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,700 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN <br />THE FY 2017 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSEUMS IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH THE COMBAT PAPERS WORKSHOP AND THE EXHIBITION <br />TRANSITIONS: STATES OF WAR.” <br /> <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />16 - 215 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $10,550 <br />from the Business Consortium for Arts Support and appropriating said amount in <br />the FY 2017 Grants Fund for general operating support for the Portsmouth Art <br />and Cultural Center. <br />Vision Principle:Lifelong Learning Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> Each year the Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center applies to the Business <br />Consortium for Arts Support for a grant to help support exhibitions and programming. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The grant has been awarded for General Operating Support and will be used for <br />programming and exhibit expenses. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> No matching funds are required for this grant. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br /> <br /> Acceptance of this award.
