<br /> The City of Portsmouth received an award notification, from the Virginia
<br />Department of Criminal Justice Services, to fund six (6) school safety officer positions
<br />(salaries and benefits only), at $16,108 each, for W.E. Waters Middle School, Cradock
<br />Middle School, Churchland Middle School, Woodrow Wilson High School, Churchland
<br />High School, and I.C. Norcom High School. This funding is to be used to establish,
<br />enhance, and continue the partnership between local law enforcement agencies and
<br />local school divisions.
<br />
<br /> The school safety officer grant requires a 25% local match. The Schools will
<br />fund the local match by using $35,352 of existing budget authority in the Debt and Fund
<br />Transfers Classification of the PPS General Fund.

<br />The following tables reflect the quarterly and annual grant fund appropriation

<br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />“ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF $194,500 IN THE INSTRUCTION
<br />CLASSIFICATION OF THE OVERALL AND THIRD QUARTER FY 2015-16 GRANT
<br />FUND BUDGET FOR THE PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS.”
