Box 50141, spoke in support of this item. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Dr. Edmonds, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO TRANSFER $851,000 WITHIN THE FY 2015-16 GENERAL FUND <br />OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING LEASE PAYMENTS, <br />DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION PROGAMS AND SERVICES, IT <br />NETWORK AND SECURITY COSTS, AND ANIMAL SHELTER SERVICES.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />16 - 91 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating $42,179,179 by classification to <br />implement the operating budget for the Portsmouth Public Schools for the Fourth <br />Quarter of Fiscal Year 2015-2016. <br />Vision Principles: Efficient Service Delivery. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> On May 12, 2015, City Council approved the FY2016 School Board Operating <br />Budget of $168,716,716, and adopted the first quarterly budget appropriation of <br /> <br />$42,179,179. <br /> <br /> Funding for the fourth and final quarter of the school budget from April 1, 2016- <br /> <br />June 30, 2016 must now be appropriated. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> Beginning with the FY2015 Budget, City Council made quarterly appropriations of <br /> <br />the Portsmouth Public Schools Budget. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> Funds are appropriated in the city’s FY2016 general fund to pay for the local <br />contribution to the school system. The attached ordinance implements the fourth quarter <br />amount. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance.
