<br />August 25, 2015 <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> On July 8, 2015, the School Board received a rebate from Optima Health in the <br />amount of $776,526 on Health Insurance premiums paid during calendar year <br />2014.Additionally, the School Board received an additional $12,223 in State funding for <br />the textbook fund. <br /> <br /> These are FY2015 dollars that the School Board wants to appropriate for <br />FY2016, prior to the end of year close-out. <br /> <br /> $560,000 is proposed to be used to pay the health insurance premiums of School <br />employees for 3 months, $216,526 for I. C. Norcom boilers and gym locker <br />replacements, and the $12,223 for textbooks. At this time, we do not know what funds will be <br /> <br />remaining from FY2015 and returned to the City. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. Vision Principles: Quality of Life and Lifelong Learning <br />Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> Finance will complete the necessary budget adjustments. <br /> <br />Motion by Dr. Whitaker, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF $560,000 IN THE <br />ADMINISTRATION, ATTENDANCE & HEALTH CLASSIFICATION OF THE FY 2015- <br />16 PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS GENERAL FUND, THE SUM OF $216,526 IN <br />THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE CLASSIFICATION OF THE FY 2015-16 <br />PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS GENERAL FUND, AND THE SUM OF $12,223 IN <br />THE 2015-16 PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS TEXTBOOK FUND, WITH ALL OF <br />THE SAID SUMS BEING APPROPRIATED TO FUND THE FIRST QUARTER OF FY <br />2015-16.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
