May 26, 2015 <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked if Council could get an update on the following: <br /> <br />- <br />Meetings being held in private buildings especially the Economic Development <br />Authority and Portsmouth Ports and Industrial Commission. He also asked that a <br />change in time for these meetings be considered. <br />- <br />Diversity Study <br /> <br />15 - 209 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Joe Wright, 1451 Welcome Road, voiced his concern with programs being cut by <br />Sheriff’s Department after budget cuts. <br /> <br /> Mayor Wright asked and received a consensus of City Council to direct the Interim <br /> <br />City Manager to provide up to $180,000 in the Sheriff’s budget specifically to <br />contract employees for scanners at the Courthouse. <br /> <br />2. Shelly Fones, 3912 King Street, invited citizens and Council to help clean the City on <br />Saturday, May 30 along Turnpike Road. <br /> <br />3. Geraldine Johnson, 1012 South Street, voiced her concern with a flood sign in front <br />of her home as well as the Splash Park. <br /> <br />4. Luther Anderson, 4910 Johnson Avenue, voiced his concern with the budget cuts to <br />public safety. <br /> <br />5. Joseph Lilly, 300 Bobby Jones Drive, voiced his concern with budget cuts to the <br />Sheriff’s Department. <br /> <br />6. Reverend Robert Earls, 1393 Watson Street, voiced his concern with what he <br />believes is a lack of respect towards City Council. <br /> <br />7. Randy Bailey, 200 Maryland Avenue, voiced his concern with various issues within <br />the City. <br /> <br />8. Wilbert Allen, 1386 Charleston Avenue, asked that citizens and City Council work <br />together to make the City better. <br /> <br />9. Coralie Fagan, 426 King Street, asked for help with the inconsistent mail delivery at <br />the senior housing community development. <br /> <br />10. Clyde Toler, 1029 Blair Street, complimented the Staff for the Memorial Day Parade <br />and thanked the Sheriff’s Department for their help. <br /> <br />11. Shirley Cherry, 949 Vermont Avenue, voiced her concern with various issues in the <br />school system. <br /> <br />12. Donna Sayegh, 3114 Garland Drive, spoke on Principles of Liberty #22. <br /> <br />13. Forice Robinson, 1409 Gort Court, offered encouragement to the citizens and City <br />Council. <br /> <br />14. Ricardo Watts, 501 Stratford Street, voiced his concern with various issues within <br />the City. <br /> <br />15. Frances Jones, 600 Yorktown Avenue, voiced her concern with the drainage <br />problem in her neighborhood. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 10:09 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
