282 <br /> <br />March 24, 1987 <br /> <br />February 24, 1987 meeting unanimously approved the final draft for <br />submission to City Council. <br /> <br />I submit the guidelines to you to move for a motion of adoptior <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Simpson, that the guide- <br />lines for the'Civic Arts Program be approved, as recommended, and · <br /> ~ted by unanimous vote (5-0). <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 87-122 Motion of Mr. Corprew and seconded by Mr~ Gray, that <br />the Tidewater Recreatzon and Stadium Authority be revoked in accord- <br />ance with House Bill No. 1355 of the 1987 General Assembly, and was <br />adopted by unanzmous vote (5-0). <br /> <br /> 87-123 The following citizens spoke concerning real'estate <br />~ssessment, real estate tax rate, and tax relief for the elderly: <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to suspend the <br />rules for c~tizen to speak 3 additional minutes, and was adopted by <br /> s vote. <br /> <br />Cameron C. Pitts, 4816 Mallard Crescent, representing Hunters <br /> Point Civic League (See Exhibit 87-123) <br />Harry DeHart, 551 Florida Avenue, Vice President of Federation <br /> of Civic Clubs <br />Richard Moore, 410 Park Manor Road. <br /> <br /> 87-124 Councilman Simpson requested <br />ae taken when contractors are excavating on <br />something of historical value. <br /> <br />that appropriate action <br />city property and find <br /> <br />The'City Manager responded. <br /> <br /> 87-124 Councilwoman Lucas <br />expound on the items presented in <br />senior citizens/elderly. <br /> <br />requested the City Manager to <br />the 1986-87 budget concerning <br /> <br /> The City Manager responded on the State law concerning ~ax <br />deductions for the elderly. <br /> <br /> 87-125 Councilman Gray asked that the City Manager ~o provid <br />some educational material to the elderly to help them understand <br />that the tax relief program is not jus~ a handout. <br /> <br /> Also, Mr. Gray stated that the City staff and Committe on <br />Hazardous Waste are making progress on how to be better prepared <br />on hazardous waste in our communities and be able to report on <br /> that arise in the area. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned at 8:32 p.m. <br />APPROVED -~ <br /> <br />City <br /> <br /> <br />
