Vision Principles: <br />Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community and Quality of Life. <br />Background: <br />• Keep America Beautiful is a leading nonprofit that bring people together to build <br />and sustain vibrant communities. <br />• Keep America Beautiful offers communities the opportunity to join its network of <br />communities and partnering organizations in working together to find ways to build and <br />sustain vibrant communities. <br />�merica Back in 1977, the then City Council passed a resolution endorsing the Keep <br />Beautiful Program and authorized the then City Manager to submit an <br />application to become a participant in the program. <br />Discussion: <br />• The Department of General Services is seeking to reaffirm the City as an affiliate <br />partner with the organization under the "Keep Portsmouth Beautiful" Program. <br />;eautiful In addition, the Department of General Services will create a Keep Portsmouth <br />Committee and revive the Adopt -A -Spot program. <br />• Keep Portsmouth Beautiful will offer solutions that create clean and beautiful <br />public places, reduce waste and increase recycling, generate positive impact on the <br />local economy and inspire citizens to be environmental stewards. <br />Financial Impact: <br />�udget There is an annual affiliation fee of $300.00 which is covered as part of the <br />for General Services. In addition, there is a cost to purchase signs for the <br />Adopt -A -Spot Program. The signs cost $60 each. This cost is also part of the current <br />budget for the Department of General Services. <br />Recommended Action: <br />�ommunity Adoption of the resolution. Vision Principles.
