September 23, 2014 <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force shall include the following other <br />public agency staff members and representatives: <br />Portsmouth Health Department designee <br />Virginia Cooperative Extension Unit Coordinator <br />Portsmouth Public Schools, Science Teacher <br />Old Dominion University, Virginia Sea Grant participant <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority representative <br />NAVFAC MIDLANT (Norfolk Naval Shipyard representative) <br />Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads (Naval Medical Center representative) <br />Craney Island representative <br />NAVFAC MIDLANT Regional representative <br />Coast Guard Liaison <br />School Operations representative <br />US Army Corps of Engineers, Flood Plain Management Services Section representative <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force shall include the following <br />citizen members: <br />Historic Preservation Commission member <br />Olde Towne resident <br />Cradock resident <br />Port Norfolk resident <br />Churchland resident <br />Brighton/Prentis Park resident <br />Lee Ward /North Brighton resident <br />HBA/Towne Bank representative <br />Hampton Roads Realtors Association representative <br />Tidewater Builders Association representative <br />Port of Virginia representative <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force shall include members of the <br />following media organizations: <br />The Virginian-Pilot <br />WAVY TV <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force shall present a proposed <br />Flood Plain Management Plan to the City Council for adoption by September 1, 2015, <br />and shall meet periodically thereafter until December 31, 2018 to consider new <br />materials and methods to prevent flood damage and make necessary recommendations <br />to City Council." <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />14 - 372 -Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a <br />Memorandum of Understanding with Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission <br />and various other documents related to the revitalization of 3920 Burton's Point <br />Road and an adjacent strip of land. Vision Principle: A Robust Economy for <br />Working Men and Women. <br />Background: <br />• The City, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the <br />Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have reached a tentative agreement to allow <br />EPA to expand the geography of the landfill component of the Atlantic Wood Industries <br />(AWI) Superfund Site remediation. The expansion will include 3920 Burton's Point <br />Road (currently owned by the School Board) and an adjacent strip of land currently <br />owned by the City (collectively, the "Properties"). As a result, the height of the landfill <br />will be reduced and the brownfield development opportunities in the area will be <br />improved. <br />
