February 11.2014 <br />Discussion: <br />• This year, the City of Portsmouth has been notified that it will receive <br />$268,395.00 in Fire Program Funds. <br />• Each year, the City must report to the Department of Fire Programs how the <br />money is used. <br />• Funds will be used to support fire and emergency services within the City of <br />Portsmouth. <br />Financial Impact: <br />• These grant funds require no local cash match. <br />Recommended Action: <br />• Adoption of the ordinance. Vision Principle: Neighborhoods and a Sense of <br />Community. <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />• Acquire additional fire protection equipment and continue to provide necessary <br />training for our fire personnel. <br />Motion by Mr. Edmonds, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING 2014 AID TO LOCALITY FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$268,395 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF FIRE PROGRAMS AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID SUM IN THE FY 2013-14 GRANTS FUND TO SUPPORT <br />FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES IN THE CITY." <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />14 - 46 -Adoption of an ordinance accepting 2014 Aid to Locality funds in the <br />amount of $272,472 from the Virginia Department of Fire Programs and <br />appropriating said sum in the FY 2013-14 Grants Fund to support fire and <br />emergency services in the City.
