November 12, 2013 <br />4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to take such further actions, <br />execute such additional documents, and grant such further assurances as may be <br />reasonably necessary to implement the intent of this resolution. The City Attorney shall <br />provide all legal representation and assistance needed to implement this resolution. <br />5. The City Manager shall report to Council as needed on the status of the <br />matter." <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />- New Business - <br />13 - 464 -Boards and Commissions <br />There were no appointments. <br />13 - 465 -Items Submitted by Council Members <br />• Ordinance appropriating $27,200 in the FY 2013-14 General Fund to provide <br />one-time funding to the Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless, Inc., for <br />transportation and security expenses related to its Emergency Winter Shelter <br />Program. <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br />"ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $27,200 IN THE FY 2013-14 GENERAL FUND TO <br />PROVIDE ONE-TIME FUNDING TO THE PORTSMOUTH VOLUNTEERS FOR THE <br />HOMELESS, INC., FOR TRANSPORTATION AND SECURITY EXPENSES RELATED <br />TO ITS EMERGENCY WINTER SHELTER PROGRAM." <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />- Mayor Wright provided an update on the recycling program and asked someone <br />from Staff provide additional information on upcoming recycling events. <br />• Donna Corbus, General Services, provided the following information: <br />- Recycling event on Friday, November 15 in the Lowe's parking lot, 10 am - 2 pm. <br />- Recycling event on Saturday, November 16 at Monumental United Methodist <br />Church, 9 am -noon. <br />- Mayor Wright thanked citizens for coming out to the Coast Guard Day Celebration. <br />- Ms. Psimas informed citizens of the following events: <br />- Olde Towne Antiques and Arts Open House, Friday, November 22, 2013, 5 pm - <br />10 pm. <br />- 29t" Annual Grand Illumination Parade, Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 7 pm. <br />- Mr. Moody asked for consensus from City Council to have Staff come back with a <br />report that would allow businesses to use banners for advertisement. He also asked <br />for consensus to have Staff come up with a plan to protect roads from heavy trucks. <br />- Dr. Edmonds asked that citizens pray for those in the Filipino community devastated <br />by the typhoon. <br />13 - 466 -Report on Pending Items <br />There were no pending items. <br />
