337 <br /> <br />May 26, 1987 <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. 'Lucas and <br /> Cwithout interest), <br /> <br />seconded by Mrs. Webb, that refunds be <br />as requested, and was adopted by unani- <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />87-247 The following resignation was received from the School <br /> <br />"It was an occasion of great honor when <br />?ortsmouth Public Schools Board in 1981 and I <br /> 1ce. <br /> <br />was appointed <br />appreciate that <br /> <br />to the <br /> <br />However, I must now apologize for my unsatisfactory performance <br />now requires my premature termination of service. <br /> <br /> Therefore, if my continued presence on the board constitutes a <br />:hreat to the education of our students, and/or the image of our <br />:ity and the profession that ~ represent, then I hereby tender my <br />resignation as a member of the Portsmouth Schools Board, to become <br />~ffective at your pleasure. Talley's resignation be accepted, and was adopted by <br /> )us vote. <br /> <br /> 87-248 Bill Watson, 200 Gee Street, representing Highland- <br /> ~re givic League, spoke concerning property at 71S Summers Plac <br /> a recreation center for the Highland-Biltmo~e area. <br /> <br /> ~otion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, requested the <br />2ity Manager, through the City Attorney, to acquire necessary <br />~ppraisa/ on the property, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> :'87-249 - Hank Fallon, 101 Jacquelyn Drive, representing 29th <br />Precinct Civic Forum, stated that he opposed the recommendation as <br />>resented by the City Manager, and requested a meeting with the Cit, <br /> , and Mr. Nash of the State Highway Department, be arranged <br /> the matter of the No-U-Turn sign at Jacquelyn Drive and Port <br /> ard. <br /> <br /> 3anice L. Robinson, 114 Jacquelyn Drive, stated she opposed <br />the recommendation as presented by the City Manager and inquired <br /> the recommendation from the meetings that had been held there <br /> to be a cut-through at Charlotte Drive, and 'it~was not consider <br /> <br /> The City Manager responded. <br /> <br /> ~ Motion ~f Mrs. Webb and seconded by }~l'r. Simpson} that a meetinj <br />)e set to meet with appropriate State Highway Department representa- <br /> , Mr. Fallon, M~§.
