<br />At a Regular Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, there
<br />were present:
<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Paige D. Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene
<br />W. Randall, *Elizabeth M. Psimas, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., Danny W. Meeks, City
<br />Manager John L. Rowe, Jr., City Attorney George M. Willson.
<br />Councilman Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., opened the meeting with prayer, which was
<br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
<br />Mayor Wright called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance.
<br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to approve the minutes of a
<br />Called Meeting of February 25, 2013 (with the noted correction to the Superintendent's
<br />name), of a Called Meeting of February 26, 2013, of a Regular Meeting of February 26,
<br />2013, and of a Called Meeting of March 5, 2013 minutes and was adopted by the
<br />following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />13 - 109 -Presentation:
<br />• Presentation of special lapel pins to newly appointed board and commission
<br />members.
<br />13 - 110:
<br />A. Motion to appoint City Manager.
<br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Moody, that City Council appoint
<br />John L. Rowe, Jr., as City Manager at an annual salary of $150,000, effective
<br />immediately, and that the Mayor be authorized and directed to execute a First
<br />Amendment to Mr. Rowe's Employment Contract to reflect that his appointment is no
<br />longer on an interim basis, and was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall
<br />Nays: Wright
<br />B. Motion to appoint City Attorney.
<br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, that City Council appoint
<br />George M. Willson as City Attorney at an annual salary of $150,000, effective
<br />immediately, and that the Mayor be authorized and directed to execute an Employment
<br />Agreement on the terms agreed by the City Council and Mr. Willson, and was adopted
<br />by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall
<br />Nays: Wright
<br />C. Motion to appoint City Auditor
<br />Motion by Mr. Cherry, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, that City Council appoint
<br />Jesse A. Thomas as City Auditor at an annual salary of $90,000, effective April 1, 2013,
<br />and that the Mayor be authorized and directed to execute an Employment Agreement on
<br />the terms agreed to by the City Council and Mr. Thomas, and was adopted by the
<br />following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright
<br />Nays: None
