December 11, 2012 12 - 493 -Adoption of a motion accepting the 2013 Calendar of City Council Meetings. Vision Principle: Efficient, Responsive Government. Background: • The Portsmouth City Council normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, and the Monday prior to the second and fourth Tuesday regular meeting, except during the month of December where they meet on the second Tuesday and the Monday prior. Discussion: • This action would allow the City Council to give advance notification to the citizens, media, and city departments of the 2013 meeting schedule. Financial Impact: • There is no financial impact. Staff Recommends: • I recommend that City Council adopt a motion to approve the City's 2013 Calendar. Next Steps following City Council Action: • The City Clerk will post the 2013 Meeting Calendar on the City's webpage and provide to the general public. Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to accept the 2013 Meeting Calendar of the City Council, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright Nays: None - New Business - 12 - 494 -Boards and Commissions Mr. Moody offered the following nominations: Economic Development Authority Dean Thomsson to be appointed to fill a four year term ending December 31, 2016, replacing Nathaniel Williams. Junius Thompson II to be appointed to fill a four year term ending December 31, 2016, replacing Terry Danaher. Planning Commission Yolanda Thomas to be appointed to fill a four year term ending December 31, 2016, replacing Gary Leggett. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to close nominations, and the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright Nays: None 12 - 495 -Items Submitted by Council Members Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to add an item to the agenda, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright Nays: None
