295 <br />November 27, 2012 <br />- Mr. Cherry asked and received consensus from City Council to have the Interim City <br />Manager develop a Civic Engagement Plan to be considered at a meeting in <br />January. <br />- Mayor Wright thanked all non-profits, churches and other organizations that helped <br />serve those who were less fortunate during the Thanksgiving Holiday. <br />12 - 476 -Report on Pending Items <br />• Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the November 13, 2012 City Council Meeting. <br />12 - 477 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. Joe Wright, 1451 Welcome Road, voiced his concern dirty politics during the <br />election. <br />2. Betty Ashberry, 5218 Cobblehill Road, asked that City Council weigh all the pros and <br />cons before considering eliminating the City Jail. <br />3. Cyneese Johnson, 501 Viking Street, asked for an update on the refurbishing of <br />tennis courts throughout the City <br />4. Sharon Jackson, 2016 Wyoming Avenue, spoke in support of allowing chicken pens <br />in backyards and asked City Council to consider amending the ordinance to allow <br />for backyard hens. <br />5. Don Scott, 4316 Midfield Parkway, provided some history on the Eureka Club and <br />invited citizens and City Council to the 61St Eureka Debutante Cotillion Program, May <br />3, 2013. <br />6. William Connolly, 475 Water Street, asked that citizens volunteer to be part of the <br />Portsmouth Flag Association. <br />7. Ruth Goodhart, 4805 Templar Drive, asked that City Council amend the ordinance to <br />allow for backyard hens. <br />8. Lorenzo Grandison, 42 Dale Drive, spoke on barring immunity for City employees. <br />9.
