372 <br /> <br />June 23, 1987 <br /> <br /> BE IF FURTH~RP~SO~,~D that the City Clerk bel and she hereby is, directed <br />to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Virginia Department of Highways and <br />Transportation and members of the Portsmouth Delegation To the General Assembly <br />of Virginia." <br /> Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Holley <br /> Nays: None <br /> (Vice Mayor Webb was absent from the C~uncil Chamber) <br /> <br /> 87-288 Richard Ramsey, 4300 South Street, representing <br />Precinct Civic Forums, spoke concerning lack of toilet facilities <br />for recreational areas, specifically requested that one be placed <br />in the Simonsdale area. <br /> <br /> The matter was referred To the City Mansger and a report be <br />furnished. <br /> <br /> 87-289 Tyrone Hines, 946 Vermont Avenue, representing Mt. <br />Hermon Little League, spoke concerning the safety ~of the children a <br />Joseph~B. Parker Recreation C~nter the need for a fence along the <br />railroad tracks, work on the ballfield; also, consideration of a <br />swimming~pool, and the Center being closed on Saturday. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, that all <br />of the concerns of Mr Hines be referred to t~e City Manager and a <br />report be furnished as soon as possible, and was adopted by unanimo~ <br />VO~e, <br /> <br /> 8~-29~ Motion of~rs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. SimFson, to <br />suspend the rules ~o allow citizens to speak. <br /> <br /> Cameron Pitts, 4816 Ma~ard Crescent, representing Hunters <br />Pcint Civic League, spoke concerning the Western Freeway and~the <br />effect it was having on the citizens, and asked Council to consider <br />asking the Highway Department to stop work on ~he Freeway. <br /> <br /> 87-291 - Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, ~o go <br />into an executive session to discuss a personnel matter, and was <br /> ~ted by 6-0 vote. (Mr. Simpson was absent from the Council <br />Chamber). <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned at <br />APPROVED ~'~ ~1[~ <br /> ~J Mayor <br /> <br />10:45 p.m. <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
