The State is now ready to expedite Phase II at our <br /> which includes the construction of the overpass at Towne <br />Point Road and the reconstruction of this roadway from the Chesapeak~ <br />line to the CSX right-of-way. The estimated total cos~ for this <br /> is $8,300,000, With a local share of $4'15,000. This phase wa: <br />ndentified in the I986-91 CIP and the funding will come from the <br />1987-88 CaFital Budget. Attached for your information is a fact <br />sheet which outlines the anticipated construction schedule for the <br />Western Freeway, as well as expected City costs. <br /> <br /> In order to proceed with this vital highway link, I recommend <br />that you appropriate $415,000 to cover the City's cost £or Phase II <br />At your second reading of this appropriation I will submit a bond <br />resolution to authorize ~he required funding. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Webb, the follow <br />ing ordinance was approved on first reading, and was adopted by <br />unanimous vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $415,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE CITY'S SHARE OF THE PORTION OF <br />THE WESTERN FREEWAY PROJECT DESIGNATED AS THE TOWNE POINT <br />ROAD PROJECT." <br /> <br /> 87-300 Letter from the City Manager <br />an ordinance to appropriate $490,453 from <br />Fund for street and drainage improvements <br />residential area and award of contract. <br /> <br />recommending adoption of <br />the Capital Improvements <br />for the Douglass Park <br /> <br /> "The 1986-91 Capital Improvement Program includes funds for thc <br />construction of drainage and street improvements in the Douglass <br />~ark and Choate Street area. This two-phase project will provide <br /> uate drainage, a safe street system and an upgraded sanitary <br /> ewer system. This project will assist in surface drainage and <br /> inate ponding xn the r~ght-of-way, lower maintenance costs, <br />~rovide a safe street with sidewalks and curbs and gutters and im- <br />prove the aesthetics of this neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Bids were necef~ed for Phase I on May 21, 1987. The bids re- <br /> .eived were competitive and favorable with today's construction <br /> .osts (see attachment).
