394 <br /> <br />July 14, 1987 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth deems it essen- <br />ial that the railroad be relocated as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />ortsmouth, Virgznza, expresses its support for the relocation of <br />the Norfolk Southern (NFD) Railroad into the right-of-way of the <br />Western Freeway and creates the Railroad Relocation Task Force to <br />coordinate the efforts of all affected jurisdictions to reach the <br />goal. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the cities of <br />2hesapeake and Suffolk are here by requested to appoint similar <br />task forces to meet with our appointees and coordinate the efforts <br />to achieve the intent of this resolution. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she hereby <br />is, directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Mayors and <br />Members of Council of the cities of Chesapeake and Suffolk, the <br />General Assembly delegations from the cities of Portsmouth, Chesa- <br />)eake and Suffolk and the Virginia Department of Highways and <br /> ]ortation." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Webb, Holley <br />Nays: None ~ <br /> <br /> 87-318 The following citizens spoke concerning the resigna- <br />ion of the Mayor~ <br /> <br /> Michael L.
