390 <br /> <br />July 14, 1987 <br /> <br /> Gordon Tayloe, Attorney, Central Fidelity Bank Bldg., High and <br />Crawford Streets, representing Swimming Point Association, was <br />available to answer questions of Council. <br /> <br /> On:mo~ion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the followi~ <br />resolution was adopted, ~and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR THE CLOSING OF PAUL <br /> JONES AVENUE AND TWO UNN~4ED TEN FOOT ALLEYS ON THE NORTH <br /> SIDE OF CRAFORD PLACE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Swimming Point Associates has made application to <br />vacate, close and discontinue Paul Jones Avenue and two unnamed ten <br />foot alleys on the north side of Craford ~lace, and it appearing <br />that Notice of Application and request for the appointment <br />has been duly advertised as required by law. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virg~nma, that Richard D. Ottavio, Albert J. Cart, <br />Howard L. Davis, George N. Powers and C. L. Knight be appointed vie~ <br />and that Raym3nd Tweed and Charles R. Hudgins be appointed alternat~ <br /> ~iewers in the event one of the preceding viewers fails to partici- <br /> ,ate, said viewers to view the hereinafter described portion of <br /> aid street and alleys and to report to this Council in writing <br /> ~er in their opinion any~ and if any what, inconvenience would <br /> 'esult from vacating and closing the following: <br /> <br /> Paul Jcnes Avenue, a thirty foot wide right of way, <br />starting at the eastern edge of the Washington Street <br />right of way and running approximately 350 feet east to <br />the Elizabeth River. <br /> <br />~rs <br /> <br /> A ten foot wide unnamed alley, starting at the <br />eastern edge of the Washington Street right of way, <br />approximately fifty (50) feet south of Paul Jones <br />Avenue, and running approximately 230 feet east to <br />intersection with a second ten foot alley runnmng <br />north-south. <br /> <br />its <br /> <br /> A portion of a second ten fcot wide unnamed alley <br />which starts at the north edge of the Craford Place <br />right of way and runs north to Paul Jones Avenue. The <br />portion to be closed starts approximately ninety (90) <br />feet north of Craford and runs approximately one <br />hundred five (105) feet to Paul Jones Avenue. <br /> <br /> The properties are shown on the plat of the Craford <br />Place Corporation, which plat is recorded in the Clerk's <br />Office of the Court of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, in Map Book, at page 35." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Webb, Holle <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 87-310 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />a resolution authorizing a Police Mutual Aid Agreement with Chesapeake, <br />Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. <br /> <br /> "The cities of Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Norfolk and Virginia <br />Beach have developed terms for a police mutual aid agreement betwee <br />the four jurisdictions. This agreement would permit any one of the <br />four jurisdictions to request assistance from one or more of the <br />other jurisdictions concerning law enforcement matters. The reques~ <br />jurisdiction would provide assistance in the form of manpower or <br />equipment only when it determines that sufficient resources are <br />available to continue appropriate police protection in its own <br />'uri~diction. <br /> <br /> <br />
