June 27,2000 <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The Tower Redevelopment Project is intended to eliminate blight and bring <br />commercial redevelopment of properties within and around the area encompassed <br />within the Plan. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The Redevelopment Project will require that PRHA acquire certain properties on <br /> behalf of the City. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY FOR THE TOWER <br />REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and hereby is, authorized, for and on behalf of the City, to execute <br />and to deliver to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority a Cooperation <br />Agreement for the Tower Redevelopment Project. The Cooperation Agreement shall be <br />substantially as per the attached Exhibit A." (See Exhibit File for Exhibit A) <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />00 - 150 - Adoption of a motion to transfer $80,310 from the Grant Contingency Account <br />to fund the USDA Summer Food Program. <br /> <br />An estimated $1,720 meals per day (breakfasts and lunches) will be served at <br />ten sites throughout the City from June 26 through August 9th for youth in Iow- <br />income communities. No local match is required. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a motion to transfer $80,310 from the Grants Contingency Account to <br />fund the USDA Summer Food Program. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· This program provides free, nutritious meals during the summer to youth who are <br />economically disadvantaged, while providing wholesome recreational, educational and <br />cultural programs. <br /> <br />· The program will serve breakfast and lunch to approximately 1,720 children at ten <br />sites throughout the City from June 26th through August 9th. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There is no local match required for this grant. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to transfer $80,310 from <br />the Grants Contingency Account to fund the USDA Summer Food Program, and was <br />adopted by the following: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />00 - 151 - Mr. Griffin offered the following nominations for the following Boards and <br />Commissions: <br /> <br /> <br />
