June 27, 2000 2 1 3 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 27, 2000, there were present: *Mayor James W: Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., *J. Thomas Benn Ill, *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman: 00 - 139 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 00 - 140 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. DSS/Health Department Municipal Facility 2. ToWer Red. evelopment Project Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: - employee personnel matters, and also to discuss appointments by Council to boards and commissions. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in ~he motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
