October 27, 1987 <br /> <br /> Of the total project cost of $49~122, $24,558 represents <br />the federal grant and $24,564 represents the required local <br />match. The local match consists of in-kind costs within the <br />Parks & Recreation budget. <br /> <br /> I recommend approval ~f th'is project and t~e~tr~hsfer of <br />$24,558 from the Grants Contingency Account to implement the <br />study." <br /> <br /> On motio'n of Mrs~ Lucas and seconded-by M~%.B~rne~s, that <br />authorization be granted to transfer $24,5-58 from the Gr~ants <br />Contingency Account, as requeste~, and'was adopte~ by unanimous <br />vote. <br /> <br />- NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 87-460 Vice Mayor Webb offered the following <br />nominations for appointments to the following <br />Boards/Commissions: <br /> <br />Planning Commission <br /> <br /> Robert J. ~enn, <br />effective January 1, <br />replacing Thorburn A. <br /> <br />to be appointed to fill an unexpired <br />1988 and expiring January 1, 1989~ <br /> Parker. <br /> <br />School Board <br /> <br /> Ralph W. Buxton, to be appointed to fill an unexpired term <br />ending July 1, 1988; replacing Robert E. Spencer, Jr. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, to close <br />nominations, and there being no further nominations, the above <br />members were elected to the designated Boards/Commission, and <br />was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Webb offered the following nomination for <br />appointment to the following Board: <br /> <br />STOP <br /> <br /> Harold Goodman, to be appointed for a three year term, <br />effective November 1, 1987; replacing James Vaughan. <br /> <br /> Councilwoman Lucas requested that the STOP appointment be <br />voted on separately because she Would abstain being employed by <br />STOP. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to close <br />nominations on STOP and there being no further nominations, the <br />above member to be elected, and was adopted by 6-0-1 <br />(Abstain-Lucas) vote. <br /> <br /> 87-461 - Ginny Becket, 700 London Blvd., ChairpersOn of <br />the Senior Citizens Commission, requested that secretarial <br />staff be provided to the Commission. <br /> <br /> The City Manager will review the request and report back <br />to Council. <br /> <br /> 87-462 - The following citizens spoke concerning the <br />problems they have had with the Board of Zoning Appeals: <br /> <br />Jesse H. Overton, Jr., 82 Ericsson Street. <br />Shirley T. Wright, 4307 South Street. <br />E. R. Vick, 911 Augusta Avenue. <br />Bill Watson, 200 Gee Street. <br /> <br /> <br />
