November 10, 1987 <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Richard D. Ottavio, Albert J. <br />Carr, Howa~d"L. Davis, George N. Powers, Sr., and James V. <br />McGehee be appointed viewers and that Simon P. Arrington and <br />James H. Griffin be appointed alternate viewers in the event <br />one of the preceding viewers-fails to participate, said viewers <br />to view the hereinafter described portion of said street and to <br />report to this Council-in w~riti~g whether in their opinion any, <br />and if any what, inconvenience would result in vacating and <br />closing the following: - ..~ <br /> <br /> First Street <br /> <br /> Ail that portion of First Street-being 60' in <br />width and extending from the southern boundary of <br />Crawford Street to the northern boundary of wythe <br />Street." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Simpson, Webb, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 87-475 Letter from the City Manager recommending adop- <br />tion of a resolution appointing viewers for the closure of a <br />portion of Kayton Street. <br /> <br /> "The City of Portsmouth has made-application to vacate a <br />portion of First Street. The Notice of Application and Request <br />for Appointment Qf Viewers has been advertised. <br /> <br /> I recommend adoption of the resolution appointing viewers <br />for this application." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, the <br />following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR THE CLOSURE OF Ao 3-~ <br />PORTION OF KAYTON STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Clyde E. Smith has made application to vacate, <br />close and discontinue the hereinafter described portion of <br />Kayton Street and it appearing that Notice of Application and <br />Request for Appointment of Viewers has been duly advertised as <br />required by law. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Richard D. Ottavio, Charles R. <br />Hudgins, Robert Reed, Harrison Miller and Moses Gibson be <br />appointed viewers and that Raymond Tweed and L.A. Clark be <br />appointed alternate viewers in the event one of the preceding <br />viewers fails to participate, said viewers to view the <br />hereinafter described portion of said street and to report to <br />this Council in writing whether in their-opinion any, and if <br />any what, inconvenience would result in vacating and closing <br />the following: <br /> <br />~ayton Street <br /> <br /> That portion of Kayton Avenue shown on <br />the amended plat Of South Highlands ~1, duly <br />recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit <br />Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia in <br />Map Book 18, page 71, situate in the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia and designated as Kayton <br />Street upon the official records of said city, <br />which lies between the western line of the <br />street designated on said plat as Howard <br /> <br /> <br />
