At a regular meeting of the City council held on Tuesday, <br />January 12, 1988, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor GLoria O. Webb, Jack P~ Barnes, E. G. Corprew, Jr., <br />J. Robert Gray, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, <br />LaMar Williams, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, <br />Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Rev. T. M. Frye, Pastor of Biltmore Baptist Church, opened <br />the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag.~ <br /> <br /> Mayor~Webb recognized Tommy Polliard,~Scout Troop 228 <br />working on his merit badge for Communications, and the <br />Churchland High School government class of Mrs. Wermister, and <br />welcomed all visitors in attendance. She introduced LaMar <br />williams the new member of the City Council. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, minutes <br />of a called meeting of December 8, 1987; minutes of a regular <br />meeting of December 8, 1987; and minutes of a special meeting <br />of December 19, 1987; and minutes of a.special meeting of <br />December 21~.1987, to be approved as received, and was adopted <br />by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 88-4 - Public Hearing on use <br />group housing.project application: <br /> <br />(a) Use Permit UP 87-26 <br /> <br />permit application and a <br /> <br />PORT NORFOLK NEIGHBORHOOD - <br />Use permit application of <br />Creecy Warehousing, by <br />William C. Creecy, owner, <br />to operate a storage~ware- <br />house and yard a whole- <br />saling and jobbing <br />establishment at 730-734 <br />Florida Avenue. <br /> <br /> Kirk Berkeley, 700 London Blvd., representing the <br />applicant spoke in support of the project. <br /> <br /> Bill Watson, 200 Gee Street, spoke in support of the <br />application and complimented the applicant on his business. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to <br />concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission, UP <br />87-26 to operate a storage warehouse and yard and a whole- <br />saling and jobbing establishment at 730-734 Florida Avenue, was <br />approved on first reading, and was adopted by unanImous vote. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Gk66~ H6~ing Pr0j&6~87-15 - <br /> <br />PRENTIS PARK <br />NEIGHBORHOOD - Group <br />housing project <br />application of James <br />E. Rohr, contract <br />owner, for a four- <br />unit apartment build- <br />ing at the northwest <br />corner of Duke Street <br />and Atlanta Avenue. <br /> <br /> James E. Rohr, applicant, had requested that GHP 87-15 <br />be withdrawn. <br /> <br /> <br />
