At a regular meeting of the City council held on Tuesday, January 12, 1988, there were present: Mayor GLoria O. Webb, Jack P~ Barnes, E. G. Corprew, Jr., J. Robert Gray, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, LaMar Williams, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. Rev. T. M. Frye, Pastor of Biltmore Baptist Church, opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.~ Mayor~Webb recognized Tommy Polliard,~Scout Troop 228 working on his merit badge for Communications, and the Churchland High School government class of Mrs. Wermister, and welcomed all visitors in attendance. She introduced LaMar williams the new member of the City Council. Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, minutes of a called meeting of December 8, 1987; minutes of a regular meeting of December 8, 1987; and minutes of a special meeting of December 19, 1987; and minutes of a.special meeting of December 21~.1987, to be approved as received, and was adopted by unanimous vote. 88-4 - Public Hearing on use group housing.project application: (a) Use Permit UP 87-26 permit application and a PORT NORFOLK NEIGHBORHOOD - Use permit application of Creecy Warehousing, by William C. Creecy, owner, to operate a storage~ware- house and yard a whole- saling and jobbing establishment at 730-734 Florida Avenue. Kirk Berkeley, 700 London Blvd., representing the applicant spoke in support of the project. Bill Watson, 200 Gee Street, spoke in support of the application and complimented the applicant on his business. Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission, UP 87-26 to operate a storage warehouse and yard and a whole- saling and jobbing establishment at 730-734 Florida Avenue, was approved on first reading, and was adopted by unanImous vote. (b) Gk66~ H6~ing Pr0j&6~87-15 - PRENTIS PARK NEIGHBORHOOD - Group housing project application of James E. Rohr, contract owner, for a four- unit apartment build- ing at the northwest corner of Duke Street and Atlanta Avenue. James E. Rohr, applicant, had requested that GHP 87-15 be withdrawn.
