O. Drawer <br />F20, Florence, SC 29501, for duplicate payment of Real Estate <br />Taxes. <br /> <br /> I recommend that this motion be adopted and the refund be <br />granted." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Lucas and Mr. Gray, that the refund be <br />granted without interest as requested, .and waS adopted by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 88-14 - On motion of Mr. Simpson, and seconded by Mr. <br />Barnesf the following resolution was ~dopted, and by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PORTSMOUTH DELEGATION TO THE <br />GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF VIRGINIA TO SPONSOR SUCH LEGISLATION <br />AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO DESIGNATE THE RELOCATION OF THE <br />NORFOLK SOUTHERN RAILROAD IN THE CHURCHLAND AREA OF THE <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH INTO 1-664 AND THE WESTERN-FREEWAY AS A <br />PRIORITY PROJECT; TO DIRECT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION TO SEEK FUNDING FOR SUCH RELOCATION FROM <br />THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATIO~ THROUGH THE SURFACE <br />TRANSPORTATION AND UNIFORM RELOCATION ASSISTANCE ACT; <br />REQUESTING SENATOR JOHN WARNER, SENATOR PAUL TRIBLE.AND <br />CONGRESSMAN NORMAN SISISKY TO TAKE SUCH ACTION AS MAY BE <br />APPROPRIATE TO SUPPORT THE REQUEST FOR FUNDING OF THE <br />RELOCATION OF THIS RAILROAD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />has previously expressed its concerns pertaining to the <br />relocation of the Norfolk Southern Railroad in the Churchland <br />area of the City of Portsmouth into 1-664 and the Western <br />Freeway in order to provide for safer vehicular traffic in the <br />City and to provide adequate rail access to undeveloped <br />industrial property in the City; and <br /> <br /> <br />
