A.
Nash, Jr., District Engineer, the State will need the property
the next thirty-six to forty-eight months (necessitating that the
road be closed).

As you are aware, the city has several major projects under
consideration which will have an impact on whether or not First
Street will be reopened. These projects are the proposed museum
and development of the old Coast Guard Base. From discussions
with City staff, as well as the Executive Director of the
Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, it is felt to be
premature to make a decision regarding the closure of First Street
at this time.
