<br />June 28, 2011 <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is further authorized to <br />enter into amended agreements for the same purposes with the aforementioned parties <br />in the future without the necessity of further City Council approval if he deems said <br />agreement(s) to be in the best interest of the City of Portsmouth." <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />11 - 261 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />11 - 262 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />~ Mayor Wright gave an update on his attendance of the United States Conference of <br />Mayors and also spoke on his tour of the United States Coast Guard Base. <br /> <br />~ Mr. Moody reminded citizens of the Independence Day Celebration that will be <br />starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Cradock. <br /> <br />~ Mayor Wright wanted to bring to citizen's attention an article featuring Portsmouth in <br />the Virginia Gardener magazine. <br /> <br />11 - 263 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />There were no pending items. <br /> <br />11 - 264 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Betty Ashberry, 5218 Cobblehill Road, voiced her concern with programs being cut <br />from the Sheriff's budget. <br /> <br />2. T. R. Brazzle, 1506 Parker Avenue, voiced his concern with cuts in the Sheriff's <br />budget. <br /> <br />3. Lieutenant Lee Cherry, 1108 Melvin Drive, asked that City CounCil review the <br />Sheriff's budget. <br /> <br />4. Fred Schoenfeld, 421 High Street, voiced his concern with cuts in the Sheriff's <br />budget. <br /> <br />5. Terry Hancock, 4932 Briarwood Lane, voiced his concern with the cuts in the <br />Sheriff's budget. <br /> <br />6. Steve Carroll, 3112 Riveredge Drive, read a letter from Mr. Paul Smith. <br /> <br />7.
