Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright Nays: None - New Business - 11 - 261 - Boards and Commissions There were no appointments. 11 - 262 - Items Submitted by Council Members ~ Mayor Wright gave an update on his attendance of the United States Conference of Mayors and also spoke on his tour of the United States Coast Guard Base. ~ Mr. Moody reminded citizens of the Independence Day Celebration that will be starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Cradock. ~ Mayor Wright wanted to bring to citizen's attention an article featuring Portsmouth in the Virginia Gardener magazine. 11 - 263 - Report on Pending Items There were no pending items. 11 - 264 - Non-Agenda Speakers 1. Betty Ashberry, 5218 Cobblehill Road, voiced her concern with programs being cut from the Sheriff's budget. 2. T. R. Brazzle, 1506 Parker Avenue, voiced his concern with cuts in the Sheriff's budget. 3. Lieutenant Lee Cherry, 1108 Melvin Drive, asked that City CounCil review the Sheriff's budget. 4. Fred Schoenfeld, 421 High Street, voiced his concern with cuts in the Sheriff's budget. 5. Terry Hancock, 4932 Briarwood Lane, voiced his concern with the cuts in the Sheriff's budget. 6. Steve Carroll, 3112 Riveredge Drive, read a letter from Mr. Paul Smith. 7. Pat Simons, 801 Mimosa Road, voiced her concern with the cost of signs that are located within the City.
