JulYll, 2000 '~ 225 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, July 11, 2000, there were present: ~Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D, Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward RObinett, Jr., J. Thomas Berm Ill, William E. Moody, ,Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Deputy Cty Manager H: Timothy Little, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 00 - 161 - The following call ~,0r the meeting was read: / "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference R~om, 801 Crawfor~l Street 6th flOOr 5:00 p,m. Tuesday, July 11,2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 00 - 162 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. River Pointe · . Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: - subsection 3, the acquisition or sale of realty for a public purpose; and subsection 4, prospective business expansion or location, and also investing public funds where competition or bargaining is involved. - In addition, Council will discuss the performance of specific public officers, appointees, or employees of the City, as permitted by subsection 1. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded byMr. Benn, pursuant to Section 2.1,344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of InfOrmation Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
