<br />At a Regular Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, there were
<br />present:

<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr.,
<br />Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr.,
<br />City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman.
<br />
<br />Reverend Gregory Yancey, Sr., opened the meeting with prayer, which was
<br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
<br />
<br />Mayor Wright called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance.
<br />
<br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to approve the minutes
<br />of a Called Meeting of April 12, 2011, of a Regular Meeting of April 12, 2011, of a Called
<br />Meeting of April 19, 2011, of a Called Meeting of April 25,2011, and of a Called Meeting
<br />of April 26,2011 and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />(a) Public hearing to consider the Annual Operating Budget for
<br />FY2011-2012.
<br />
<br />1. Linda Ridenour, 313 Tarreyton Lane, voiced her opposition to the current budget
<br />proposed for the schools.
<br />
<br />2. Antwan Corprew, 1310 Roosevelt Boulevard, voiced his opposition to the funding
<br />cuts proposed for the Sheriff's Department.
<br />
<br />3. Steve Carroll, 3112 River Edge Drive, voiced his opposition to the proposed increase
<br />in the real estate tax rate.
<br />
<br />4. Lee Cherry, 1108 Melvin Drive, voiced his opposition to the funding cuts proposed
<br />for the Sheriff's Department.
<br />
<br />5. Ron Evans, 14 Chipawa Trail, asked questions with regards to the solid waste
<br />management fees.
<br />
<br />6. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 2713 Sterling Point Drive, voiced his opposition to the
<br />current budget proposed for the schools.
<br />
<br />7. Cyneese Johnson, 501 Viking Street, asked that City Council provide funding for the
<br />tennis courts in Cavalier Manor.
<br />
<br />8. Donald Widener, 6406 Wet Marsh Court, Suffolk, suggested a funding source for the
<br />tennis courts in Cavalier Manor.
<br />
<br />9. Bill Watson, 701 Crawford Street, voiced his opposition to the funding cuts proposed
<br />for the Sheriff's Department.
<br />
<br />10. Clifford Kalmbach, 3702 Magnolia Drive, suggested that City Council cut funding to
<br />the welfare budget.
<br />
<br />11. James Williams, 4201 Hatton Point Lane, asked that employees of the City
<br />Treasurer's Office be included in the one time bonus proposed in the budget.
