The City Engineer has bid the project and should have a <br />recommendation for award by City, Council's June 28, 1988 meeting <br />(in time~ for a second: reading of this appropriation ordinance). <br />As requested, the Downtown <br />Portsmouth Association, Portsmouth Partnership, Seaboard Coastline <br />Associates, Chamber of Commerce and The Max have been requested to <br />raise 50% of~the anticipated cost to improve the ferry dock. <br /> <br /> City Council action on June 28, 1988 would be contingent upon <br />the following: <br /> <br />o Acceptable contract price <br />o Approval by Norfolk to participate 50/50 with <br /> extended ferry operation <br />o Contribution from private sector for ferry dock <br /> improvements <br />o Army Corps of Engineers approval of design <br /> <br /> I, therefore, reCommend~ that city Council-approve on first <br />reading the request t~o~ apprb~priate $20,000 for improvements to the <br />Seawall." <br /> <br /> On mOtion-of Mrs. 'Luca~ and Sleconded by Mr. Simpson, the <br />following ordinance, was approved On first reading, and by <br />unanimous vote. ~ <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $20,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br /> IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HIGH STREET <br /> FERRY DOCK." <br /> <br /> 88-226 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of an ordinance to amend Section 23-470.1 of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia., 1973, as amended, pertaining to Motor <br />Vehicles. <br /> <br /> <br />
