"In order to-comply with,the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, it is necessary to provide payment to Police Officers assigned to the K-9 Unit for the daity~care.~t~eF, provide to their assigned animals. The Police and Personnel Departments and the City Attorney's Office have determined that three quarters (3/4) of an hour per day is an appropriate amount of time for activity, and that minimum wage is the appropriate rate of pay. Accordingly, the following~change is requested in Section 11 (h) of the Classification and Pay Plan, Ordinance No. 1988-64; Amended 1988-67."
