December 14. 2010 Next Steps Following Council Action: . Distribute electronic copies of the Emergency Operations Plan to all appropriate individuals. 1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 2713 Sterling Point Drive, voiced his concern with the information for item 10-561 not being accessible on the internet. Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2010 EDITION OF THE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN FOR THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Services and Disaster Law of 2010 requires that the Commonwealth of Virginia, and each county and city thereof, develop and maintain a current Emergency Operations Plan; and WHEREAS, the purpose of an Emergency Operations Plan is to outline a locality's appropriate response to any emergency of a size andlor complexity beyond routine response systems; and WHEREAS, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regulations require local government approval of its Emergency Operations Plan; and WHEREAS, the revised 2010 edition of the Emergency Operations Plan that has been prepared by the Portsmouth Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services is compliant with the guidelines established by FEMA and the Commonwealth of Virginia. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that it hereby approves the 2010 edition of the Emergency Operations Plan." The Portsmouth City Council normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, and the Monday prior to the second and fourth Tuesday regular meeting, except during the month of December where they meet on the second Tuesday and the Monday prior. . Due to the Special Election to the Portsmouth City Council that will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, the Regular Meeting has been removed as a meeting date. Discussion: . This action would allow the City Council to give advance notification to the citizens, media, and city departments of the 2011 meeting schedule. Financial Impact: . There is no financial impact.
