<br />December 14. 2010 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. Distribute electronic copies of the Emergency Operations Plan to all appropriate <br />individuals. <br /> <br />1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 2713 Sterling Point Drive, voiced his concern with the <br />information for item 10-561 not being accessible on the internet. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2010 EDITION OF THE EMERGENCY <br />OPERATIONS PLAN FOR THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Services and Disaster Law of 2010 requires <br />that the Commonwealth of Virginia, and each county and city thereof, develop and <br />maintain a current Emergency Operations Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of an Emergency Operations Plan is to outline a <br />locality's appropriate response to any emergency of a size andlor complexity beyond <br />routine response systems; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regulations <br />require local government approval of its Emergency Operations Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the revised 2010 edition of the Emergency Operations Plan that has <br />been prepared by the Portsmouth Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services <br />is compliant with the guidelines established by FEMA and the Commonwealth of <br />Virginia. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that it hereby approves the 2010 edition of the Emergency Operations Plan." <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />10 - 562 - Adoption of a motion accepting the 2011 Calendar of City Council Meetings. <br />Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Portsmouth City Council normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday <br />of each month, and the Monday prior to the second and fourth Tuesday regular <br />meeting, except during the month of December where they meet on the second <br />Tuesday and the Monday prior. <br />. Due to the Special Election to the Portsmouth City Council that will be held on <br />Tuesday, November 8, 2011, the Regular Meeting has been removed as a meeting <br />date. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. This action would allow the City Council to give advance notification to the <br />citizens, media, and city departments of the 2011 meeting schedule. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. There is no financial impact. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />. Adoption of a motion. Vision Principle: Bold New Directions. <br /> <br />Next Steps following City Council Action: <br />. The City Clerk will post the 2011 Meeting Calendar on the City's webpage and <br />provide to the general public. <br />
