<br />November 9. 2010 <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />10 - 517 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Mr. Moody offered the following nomination: <br /> <br />Finance Committee <br /> <br />(Ret.) General Alonzo Short to be appointed, replacing Kenneth Wright as a citizen <br />representative. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close nominations, <br />and the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />10 - 518 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />'" Mr. Cherry reminded citizens and City Council of Veterans Week. He also reminded <br />everyone of the Marine Corps birthday, Wednesday, November 10,2010. <br /> <br />'" Mr. Moody asked that City Council discuss and formalize their concerns to the <br />proposed tolls and the impact it will have on the City. <br /> <br />'" Mayor Wright announced a seating change in the Council Chamber that will take <br />affect January 2011 . <br /> <br />10 - 519 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />. Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the October 26, 2010 City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />10 - 520 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Sarah Wilson, 459 Douglas Avenue, wanted to thank City Council and City Manager <br />for setting up the meeting with the Hull's Creek developers. <br /> <br />2. J. Brewer Moore, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, informed City Council that the Virginia <br />War of 1812 Bicenntienial Commission in their brochure has identified Hoffler's <br />Creek as the first place to study the War of 1812. <br /> <br />3. Robert Griffin, 4033 Longpoint Boulevard, voiced his concern with the truck traffic in <br />Churchland. <br /> <br />4. Jim Finnegan, 4601 High Street W, voiced his concerns with the Portsmouth <br />Supplemental Retirement System and Social Security offset. <br /> <br />5. Luke McCoy, 3408 Canterbury Drive, voiced his concerns with the Portsmouth <br />Supplemental Retirement System and Social Security offset. <br /> <br />6. Angela Hill, 3605 Blaine Street, voiced her frustrations with the drainage problems in <br />the Ebony Heights neighborhood. <br /> <br />7. AI Holmes, 115 Keeper Street, voiced his frustrations with the developers in the First <br />WatchlRiver Pointe neighborhood. <br /> <br />8. Teresa Faesi, 5621 Pond Lane, voiced her concern with the drainage project in <br />Ebony Heights and informed City Council of the debris left behind. <br />
