November 22, <br /> <br />1B88 <br /> <br />271 <br /> <br /> 88-465-- Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a motion to approve the renewal of the Title III Older <br />Americans Act contract used to provide home health and homemaker <br />care, transportation and dental services and the transfer of <br />$71,551 from the Grants Contingency Account to support these <br />services. <br /> <br /> "I am pleased to inform you that the contract with the <br />Southeastern Virginia Areawide Model Program, Inc. has been <br />renewed. This contract provides $70,751 of Title III Older <br />Americans Act funds to Portsmouth for senior ~itizen. services. <br /> <br /> We have exceeded last year's goals in providing home health <br />care, homemaker and personal care, transportation and dental <br />services to seniors. A total of 626 people were served at least <br />once, over 3,559 hours of service were logged, and 11,939 miles ol <br />transportation were provided. <br /> <br /> The sum of $82,757 represents the total program cost for the <br />period of October 1, 1988 through September 30, 1989. Federal <br />funds of $70,751 comprise 85.5% of the program; $11,200 of in. kin~ <br />services represents the local match and 13.5% of the program; and <br />$800 in contributions for services represents 1% of the program. <br /> <br /> I recommend the approval of the program and the transfer of <br />$71,551 from the Grants Contingency Account to support these <br />services." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, to approve th, <br />program and transfer $71,551 from the Grants Contingency Account <br />to support the services, and was adopted on first and final <br />readingt and by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 88-466 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a motion for the City Treasurer and the Director of Finance to <br />refund (without interest the following: <br /> <br />Real Estate Taxes: <br /> <br /> 1. $331.59 to First Virginia Mortgage Company <br />2. $971.07 to George G.
