November 22, 1988 259 At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, Novembe~ 22, 1988~there were present: *Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor J. Robert Gray, Jack P. Barnes, E. G. Corprew, Jr., James C. Hawks~ L. Louise Lucast George L. Hanbury~ II, City-Manager, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. Absent: J. Herbert Simpson 88-453 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hallt 801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 1988, for the purpose of a Public Work Session on a CAR Appeal. In addition,.¥ou may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 88-454 - A Public Work Session was held for the appeal from Chester M. Barnette, regarding a decision of the Commission of Architectural Review for Olde Towne~ Cradock and Truxton, denying the replacement of the left and right "L"-shaped corner porch supports w~th 4" x 4" posts at 18 Bainbridge Avenue. Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, to concur with the Co_mmission of Architectural Review for Olde Towne, Cradock and Truxton to deny the appeal of Chester M. Barnette, 2804 Lambert Trail, Chesapeake and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Webb Nays: None 88-455 - Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Gray to go into Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia to discuss the following: 1. Consideration, acquisition and use of real property for public purposes as permitted under subsection (a) (2); 2. Consideration of a personnel matter as permitted under subsection (a) (1); 3. Consultation with City Attorney and briefing by staff members pertaining to actual or potential litigation or other legal matters within the jurisdiction of the City Council as permitted under subsection (a) (6); 4. The disposition of publicly held property as permitted nnder subsection (a) (2); 5. Consideration of appointments by the City Council ~s permitted under subsection (a) (1). On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned. APPROVED -~ Mayor City Clerk *Mayor Webb arrived for the work session at 4:40 p.m.
