December 13, 1988 <br /> <br /> The second project involves ~he~extension of City sewer <br />service to the newly constructed restrooms of the Olive Branch <br />Little League~ The little league's sep~ic~tank system.has <br />failed and port-o-johns are currently being utilized. The~cost <br />of the new sewage hook-up will be $17,375. <br /> <br /> The Director of Parks and Recreation~recommends.that a <br />contract be awarded to Larry Hasley, Inc., the low responsive <br />bidder-for'the Broad Street playground equipment, in.the 'amount <br />of $6,399~The Director further recommends that ~a second <br />contract be'aw~rded3~p Adde~bro6k Spetic~Tank Contractors,.~ <br />Inc., the low bidder foe the Olvie Branch;speti¢~hook,up~ in <br />the amount of $17,375. An additional $1,226 will be required <br />as a contiggency for the two projects. <br /> <br /> Therefore,~I.c~ncur and recommend appropriation of the <br />$25,0~0 and award of the contracts as~indicated.'' <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr2 Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas the <br />following ordinance was~approved on first reading, and the <br />contracts be awarded to Larry Hasley, Inc, and Addenbrook <br />Septic Tank Contractors, and was adopted~by unanimous vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $25,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR INSTALLATION OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT <br />AT THE BROAD STREET PLAYGROUND AND THE EXTENSION OF SEWER <br />SERVICE ATT~E OLIVE BRANC~ LITTLE LEAGUE COMPLEX~.'' <br /> <br /> 88-488 Letter from the City Manager recommendin~ <br />adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $69,800 from the Public <br />Utility CaDital Improvement Fund for Elliott Avenue Sewer <br />Extension Project and to award %he contract to the lowest <br />bidder, Utility Builders, Inc. <br /> <br /> "As part of the conditions of the contract we had with <br />Vacon Development, Inc., the City was to pay 50% of the cost of <br />the extension of a sewer line from Frederick Boulevard, <br />approximately 7800 feet to the Truxtun site. Unfortunately, <br />that development has not come to fruition. The developer <br />across the street from the proposed Vacon development intends <br />to extend the sewer line that would serve not only his parcel, <br />but the City-owned parcel. <br /> <br /> In an effort to serve both parcels at ~he least monetary <br />expenditure and the elimination of duplication of effort, it is <br />recommended ~h~a.t the City participate in 50% funding for t~he <br />installation of this line. The plans for the project were <br />advertised with~%he bid ope~ing~ o5 December 1, 1988~ The <br />bidders for the project are show~ on Attachment No. 1, with the <br />low bidder being Utility Builders, Inc. The total cost of the <br /> <br />project is anticipated as follows: <br /> <br /> Contrac~'P~iCe (U%ility Builders, Inc.) <br /> Contingencies <br /> Contract Adminis~ration and Inspection <br /> Relocation of Utilities <br /> <br />$48,000 <br />$ 7,800 <br />$ 9,000 <br />$ 5,000 <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST <br />(CITY SHARE - 50%) <br /> <br />$69,~00 <br />$34,900 <br /> <br /> It is recommended that $69~800 be appropriated. Funds for <br />the developer's share have been deposited in the City's Capital <br />Improvement Fund. Furthermore, it is anticipated that with the <br />eventual development of the City-owned Truxtun property, we <br />will recoup all of our costs. <br /> <br /> <br />
