The continuation of our Victim Witness Program focusing on serving victims of <br />crime in our City. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $317,522 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2010-2011 GRANTS FUND FOR USE <br />BY THE COMMONWEALTH'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR THE VICTIM WITNESS <br />PROGRAM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Whitehurst, Griffin <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />10 - 379 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close nominations, <br />and the following nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />PlanninQ Commission <br /> <br />Aaron Ashanti to be appointed to fill a term ending December 31, 2013, replacing <br />Calsine Pitt. <br /> <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment & HousinQ Authoritv <br /> <br />Flossie Bridgeford to be appointed to fill a four year term ending August 31, 2014, <br />replacing William Kline. <br /> <br />Finance Committee <br /> <br />Bernard Rotich to be appointed, replacing Paige Cherry as a citizen representative. <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Whitehurst, Griffin <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />10 - 380 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />'" Ms. Psimas thanked the volunteers for a job well done on the success of the Coast <br />Guard Day. She also gave an update on the upcoming concerts at nTelos and <br />reminded everyone that on August 28th & 29th the 40th Annual Seawall Arts Show <br />will take place on High Street. <br /> <br />'" Mr. Moody asked for consensus from City Council asking the City Attorney to <br />organize a blue ribbon committee to review the City Charter and report back to City <br />Council with recommendations at the September 28,2010 meeting. <br />
