A, Clark be appointed viewers and that Thaddeus J. Lawrenc~ and James T. Vick, be appointed alternate viewers in the event one of the preceding viewers fails to participate, Said viewers to view the - hereinafter~described alley and to report to,this Council in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any~ whati,~- inconvenience would result in vacating and closing the following: ~ ~ 16 Foot Alley Closure .on the East side of T¥'re Neck ~Road BetWeEn FawkeS Street and Eric Street All that portion of the 16' alley between th 5800 Block of Fawkes Street and Eric Street, Portsmouth, Virginia from the inter- section of the alley with Tyre Neck ~Roa~ on the West to the intersect~i6n of .the alley With Railroad tracks on the East as shown in B-lock 3 on that certain plat entitled Plat of :the Churchland Company, which plat is recor~e3d in the Clerk's Office! of ~the Circuit Court ofi~the City of Chesapeake, Virginia in Map Book 18, at Page 85." Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb Nays: None 89-80 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution appointing viewers for the ~closing of Redwood Avenue. "Marina Properties, Inc., and Sinclair T.eIecable, Inc. have made application to vacate, 'close and discontinue a Portion of Redwood Avenue. The Notice ~and Application~ a-n~ Request for Appointment of Viewers has been advertised.~' I recommend adoption of the~resolutiOn appointing viewers fol this application." The city Attorney advised the Council the lthe advertisement for this street closure did not contain the correct information and recommended that the ma~tter be tabled until a corrected advertisement could be run, Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Hawks, th'e resolution was tabled until a corrected advertisement was run, and was adopted~by unanimous vote. 89-81 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption a motion to accept for information, the 1988 AnnUal RePort of the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission and the Industrial Development Authority of the City of PortsmoUth. "Attached for your information is the 1988 Report on the activities of the PortsmoUth Industrial Development' Authority and the POrtsm0uth Port and Industrial Commission. I commend the chairman of the Authority, Mr. Ben Levy, and the rest of the members of his board for their hard work over the last twelve months. They had a~number of special call meetings addition to their regular meeting which were in response to development proposals. I also want to comm~nd the Director of Economic Development, Mr. Jerry Burgess, who also serves as Executive Director to the PPIC and PIDA."
