"Virginia Power has made application to close Power Street. The viewers previously appointed by council~iha~e recommended approval of the apPlieation. The Planning Commission concurs in this recommendation. I recommend adoption of the ordinance closing Power!Street as requested by the applicant." Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr; Barnes, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, and was adopted by unanimous vote: "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING POWER STREET." Ayes: BarneS, Corprew, Gray,~ HaWks !Lucas~ !mpson~ ~W~bb Nays: None ~ ~- 89-79 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution appointing viewers for closing a portion Of a 16 foot alley on the east side of Tyre Neck Road between Fawkes Street and Eric Street." i Mr. Ray W. King, of Tauss, Fletcher and Earley, P.C., representing New Community ChUrch of~God in Christ spoke in support of the closure and answered questions from Council. Motion of Mr, Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the fOllowing resolution was approved on first and final reading, and by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING A 16 FOOT ALLEY ON THE EAST SIDE OF TYRE NECK ROAD BETWEEN FAWKES STREET AND ERIC STREET. WHEREAS, New Community Church of God in Christ has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described 16 foot alley on the east Side of Tyre Neck Road between Fawkes Street and Eric Street, and it appearing that Notice of Application and Request for Appointment of Viewers has been advertised as required by law.
