256 June 8. 2010 Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A LEASE RENEWAL WITH THE PORTSMOUTH HUMANE SOCIETY. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that the City Manager is authorized and directed to execute and deliver a Lease Renewal with the Portsmouth Humane Society substantially the same as the Lease Renewal which is. attached hereto." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None - New Business - 10 - 288 - Boards and Commissions There were no appointments. 10 - 289 - Items Submitted by Council Members ~ Mr. Moody asked for concurrence from City Council to have Staff draft a resolution voicing the City's opposition to the proposed tolls on the local tunnels. ~ Mr. Smith suggested that Staff contact the City of Norfolk to get their support and also ask that they adopt this resolution opposing tolls on local tunnels. ~ Mr. Moody asked the City Manager to give an update on a timeline in which flooding and drainage issues will be taken care of by the New Port developers in Highland Biltmore. . City Manager Chandler provided an update on the flooding and drainage issues in Highland Biltmore and informed City Council that a more extensive update would be provided in 2 weeks. 10 - 290 - Report on Pending Items . Dana Woodson, Public Information Officer, gave an update on items of concern presented by citizens at the May 25, 2010 City Council Meeting. 10 - 291 - Non-Agenda Speakers 1. J. Brewer Moore, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, provided information on the historical significance of the Stewart Manor neighborhood. 2. Clyde Toler, 1029 Blair Street, spoke on various issues within the City.
